CVD risk: new guideline and calculator
A new Australian guideline and calculator for assessing and managing CVD risk has been launched (https://www.cvdcheck.org.au). Supported by Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care funding and an initiative of the Australian Chronic Disease Prevention Alliance, the guideline and calculator development was led by the National Heart Foundation in collaboration with Diabetes Australia, Kidney Health Australia and the National Stroke Foundation. A key feature of the guideline is the introduction of a new CVD risk prediction equation recalibrated for the Australian population. It is also the first Australian CVD risk calculator accounting for socioeconomic disadvantage and interaction with other conditions.
