New spirometry standards released

The Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand has released new national spirometry standards aimed at improving the quality, consistency and safety of spirometry testing across primary care settings in Australia. The standards provide clear, practical guidance for clinicians, particularly those in primary care settings, where early and accurate diagnosis can make a significant difference to patient outcomes. Three core documents are available covering technical standards for spirometry, standards for training and maintaining competency in spirometry and an accreditation guideline for spirometry services.
