Peter has all three of the major risk factors for type 2 diabetes: he is overweight (his body mass index is 26.5 kg/m2), he is aged 47 years and his father and mother both have type 2 diabetes. According to your desktop blood glucose meter, Peter’s blood glucose level is 8.7 mmol/L.
