Ear health and hearing checks for Indigenous children
New recommendations for the primary care assessment of ear health and hearing status of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children aged under 6 years who are not known to have, or not actively being managed for, ear health and hearing problems have been published in the Medical Journal of Australia. The national consensus statement extends existing treatment and management guidelines. Among its key practice changes are routine use of tympanometry and listening and communica tion skills checklists.
