Correction

The article ‘Lipid­-lowering therapy after acute coronary syndrome: new developments’ by Dr Alec Pham and Professor David Brieger, which was published in the July 2025 issue of Medicine Today (pages 23 to 26), contains an error. In the ‘Icosapent ethyl’ section on page 24, a sentence states ‘Patients with myocardial infarction within the preceding six months were excluded from the trial; therefore, initiation of icosapent ethyl should not be immediate post­-event’. This is incorrect. Patients with myocardial infarction within the preceding six months were not excluded from the Reduction of Cardiovascular Events with Icosapent Ethyl–Intervention Trial (REDUCE-­IT) and this statement has been removed from the article.
