The prognosis for people with Raynaud’s phenomenon depends on its severity and whether there is associated underlying medical illness, most commonly an autoimmune disease.

However, cold hands and feet can sometimes herald something more sinister, and it is important to recognise the key features that might suggest an increased risk of circulatory compromise or tissue damage, or the presence of a significant underlying disease.
