Asthma-related deaths back to pre-pandemic levels
New Australian Bureau of Statistics data released by the National Asthma Council Australia show that asthma related deaths have returned to prepandemic levels, with 474 asthmarelated deaths in 2023 compared with 473 asthma deaths in 2022. During this time, there was a 12% decrease in deaths in males, but a 7% increase in females. Women aged 75 years and over remained most at risk, with 43% of all asthma deaths from this age group.
